Guilty pleasures for a blogger don’t tend to remain the enigmatic activities that they are for most people. A guilty pleasure is something that you enjoy, even though you know it’s not cool or on fleek! They’re those things that are not held in high regard, or maybe not actually socially acceptable to own up to! For whatever reason, it’s the things we enjoy that we keep quiet about. For most, a guilty pleasure is their own hidden happy place. I’m going to share a few of mine with you (couldn’t share them all… I’ve too many)! Enjoy!

If I’m totally honest, I don’t quite get why these are a guilty pleasure! In a world with too many people who have a conceited and pretentious view of music, I’ve been a huge fan of McFly who was locked in the closet. I’ve shared my absolute adoration for the four piece with only a few. Charlotte, my oldest (or longest running) friend, the hubby- yes, he could possibly be their number one fan, and a student whom I teach. Everyone else seem to laugh at me when I own up to this. What is not to openly love though? They play and write their own music… Tom is clearly a genius (have you seen his Twitter feed?). They seem like lads you could go for a pint with and, well forgive me for being shallow, they’re all bloody gorgeous. From Five Colours in her Hair reminding me of being at sixth form, and dancing in The Curwen (the place to be in Workington when I was much younger) like a maniac, to Love is Easy and All About You making me think of Andy and Noah. Their entire collection strikes a chord with me and I will no longer hide it! Just assume from now on, if I have headphones in and I’m smiling, I’m listening to McFly, my not so guilty pleasure!
Soul destroying REALITY TV!
Hi, I’m Alison and I’m addicted to reality TV. There, I’ve said it. Obviously, my fave is Keeping Up With The Kardashians (who doesn’t love this bunch of crazies?), and I will freely admit to this to anyone. I’m not sure how anyone who is a part of that empire can be now deemed talentless. Even so, I’d take being called talentless any day as I count the money I’d earn being a part of that fam. Bible! But my obsession does not start and end with the Kardashian and Jenner gang. Oh no. It started with Laguna Beach and The Hills, and developed from there! Give me TOWIE, Made in Chelsea, Tia and Tamera, Kimora: Life in the fab lane, I am Cait, Little Women (just think about it), Treehouse Masters, Storage Wars… The amount of mindless crap I will watch is endless really. I think I may have a problem!
Melissa and Joey… Ahem!
Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina, Clarissa Explains It All) and Joey Lawrence (Blossom) join together in this “sit com” about a live in nanny (Lawrence), his boss (MJH) and her niece and nephew. It is clichéd and flawed. You guess the punchlines a minute before they get there, and the plot moves at inexplicable rates (think of someone hitting slo-mo followed by x32 forward repeatedly). For all of it’s sins, the show has me hooked. I binge watch every night, laugh out loud at it regularly, and have even shed a tear or two. I care about the characters, and sing the theme tune in my sleep. If you watch it (it’s currently on Sky On Demand), please don’t judge me! It is a guilty pleasure!
Before I start, I will say that I have one of these maybe once a year. Twice at the most. I am completely aware of how bad for you these are. The calories are very high for one drink (488 calls in a large one), but the fat and carb contents are ridiculous. Even so, they’re possibly the tastiest junk food out there. I really wish they were good for you so I could enjoy one more often. Come rain or shine, I could happily drink one of these. What other drinks do you need to put in so much energy just to suck it through the straw?! But alas, it’s not meant to be. This will remain a guilty pleasure.
Whether we’re going on a five minute trip to Asda or a three hour journey to Warrington, I love having a car nap. The second Noah falls asleep, I’m out (probably even sooner than that). Sometimes we just go for a drive so we can have a sleep- Noah and I that is! I think car silence is a test of a a good relationship. If I ever end up in the car with you, just let me nap! Thank you!
So, those are some of my guilty pleasures. We all have them. Care to share? Comment below!
